Meet Stephen
Stephen M. Bowden was first elected to represent District 10 in November 2021.
Stephen was born and raised in coastal Virginia and is proud to have received a world-class education in public schools. He graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in History and Political Science. He then went on to receive a law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Stephen spent much of his legal career in the Charleston County Public Defender's Office, where he fought to protect people in the criminal justice system who had the least. Stephen is particularly proud of his work with the Veteran’s Treatment Court where he represents military veterans who are working with the VA to address addiction and mental health issues while earning another chance at life.
Stephen now works at the Dayson Shalabi Burkett Law Firm, where he helps injured people and represents homeowners who have been harmed by reckless developers.
Stephen married his wife, June, in 2015. They live in Shadowmoss with their two young children.
